The Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park Stadium, the former Olympic standard venue, is about to undergo a magnificent transformation. It will not only be upgraded to a professional soccer stadium, but also be able to flexibly switch to tennis courts, becoming a new sports landmark in the city.
The fledgling 50,000-seat soccer stadium will be Nanjing's first professional soccer stadium. It will not only be able to host top-level matches such as the Chinese Super League, but is also expected to apply for the right to host international competitions such as the Asian Cup in the future.
Despite the venue's advanced facilities, the original 18,000 seats limited its potential. In order to fully utilize the resources, Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park decided to undergo a thorough renovation and upgrade. It is reported that the park has 3 soccer training fields and 11 natural turf training fields, which provide unique conditions for transformation into a professional soccer stadium. After the renovation, the venues will be upgraded to enhance functionality and spectator experience by optimizing the layout and installing additional service facilities, which will then welcome the cheers of 50,000 spectators.
It is worth noting that the renovation will also include the temporary conversion of functional houses and the laying of tennis-specific surfaces to accommodate tennis events. The modular design of the grandstand space is even more flexible and can be combined into a tennis finals venue of about 12,000 spectator seats and 8,000 for the semi-finals.
In the future, this stadium will have a dual identity. In the passion of soccer, it is a professional soccer stadium; and in the elegant melody of tennis, it can switch into three tennis courts, truly realizing the diversity of sports.
