As the registration deadline for the new season draws closer, numerous clubs are nervously dealing with the thorny issue of salary arrears. Of particular interest are Chinese Super League powerhouses Wuhan Three Town and Cangzhou Lions, as well as Guangzhou of the Chinese Football Association Super League.

Among the many clubs, Guangzhou, which has won eight titles in the Chinese Super League, has been particularly active. In order to ease the financial pressure, from the club owner to the players, they have taken action, and even held an offline sale on December 17 to sell the club's equipment.

Currently, the biggest salary arrears problem facing the Guangzhou team involves former coach Cannavaro, amounting to about 1 million euros. The situation is worrisome if it is solved only by offline sales. Guangzhou team is currently in a worrying situation, even the new coach Salvador and three assistant coaches have the intention to go, ready to leave Chongqing Tongliang Long.

Whether Guangzhou team can pass the FA's admission test, the key lies in whether Cannavaro can accept the club's repayment of salary arrears program in installments. If the two sides can not reach an agreement, Guangzhou team in the new season may face the embarrassing situation of no Cannavaro available.

However, convincing Cannavaro to accept the repayment of unpaid wages in installments has not been simple for Guangzhou. It has been some time since Cannavaro returned to Italy from China after the epidemic to coach Serie A's Udinese, but he was not offered a contract extension at the end of the season.

In the past, Cannavaro used to get 12 million euros a year from Guangzhou and now that his income has been interrupted, he is surely not going to give up his Guangzhou salary arrears easily. Jokingly, with Christmas just around the corner, perhaps Cannavaro is expecting Guangzhou to pay this salary arrears as a Christmas present!
