AC Milan kicked off the new season on a winning note with a 3-1 victory over Brugge at home on Wednesday (23) in the early hours of the UEFA Battlefield. Ghastian Plessi showed off his eye-popping corner kick skills in the match, bending the ball straight into the net. The 26-year-old American international has made 11 appearances this season, contributing seven goals and three assists, as AC Milan regained their confidence with his help.
However, AC Milan lost to Liverpool and Leverkusen in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League this season. In today's match, they must not repeat the same mistake. In the 34th minute of the match, Ghastian Plessi took a corner kick from the left but the goal was empty. It was the first time in almost 50 years that A-Mi had a player bend in a corner kick directly to score.
Just six minutes later, Bruges midfielder Anjetia made a mistake in a tackle and the ball hit the opponent Reynders. After VAR confirmation, the referee showed a red card. Despite Brugge's efforts to equalize, they faced a 1-1 draw at the start of the second half after a foul by Kiliani Sabi. But AC Milan did not give up and Reynders scored twice to seal a 3-1 win.
It is worth mentioning that AC Milan striker Camarda became the youngest Italian player in the history of the UEFA Europa League when he replaced Ewalu Morada after 75 minutes. Although he had broken through in the closing stages of the game, the goal was unfortunately ruled out for offside.
Meanwhile, another Serie A side, Zuyundas, conceded in stoppage time and lost 0-1 at home to Stega, ending a 2-game winning streak in the UEFA Europa League this season.
