With the summer transfer window in Europe's top five leagues behind us, Manchester United have made a flurry of moves in the transfer market as the dust settles on their sixth signing. Midfielder Manuel Ugadi has signed a five-year contract from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Meanwhile, Mai Tommi, who came from the Manchester United youth academy, has opted to join Napoli in Serie A.
Vinlur Ugadi, who completed his medical and attended the signing ceremony, was thrilled: "I am incredibly excited to be joining the best club in the world. The passion and fighting spirit of Manchester United has captivated me. The club has shown me an ambitious development blueprint, which makes me look forward to the future."
On the eve of the start of the season, Manchester United made a request to PSG for Vinlur Ugadi and the two sides were at an impasse for a while. The 23-year-old Uruguayan international also missed the entire season with PSG as a result. Eventually, the two clubs reached an agreement to conclude the deal for a transfer fee of 50 million euros (about HK$510 million), of which 42 million euros is a fixed transfer fee and the remaining 8 million euros is a floating transfer fee.
United have brought in six new players in this summer's transfer window and Venlur Ugadi is just one of them. The other five are striker Joshua Shukes, midfielder Schcoogani, defense players Lenny Yoro, Mathis Dillette and Masharao. It is worth noting that the 18-year-old Malian starlet, Schcoogani, will be the first to join the Manchester United U21 squad for training.
