Paul Pouba, the controversial star of the banned substance controversy, is facing a two to four year suspension despite providing a B-sample for testing and the results still failing to clear his name. His club Juventus has run out of patience with him, announcing a suspension of his wages and freezing the pay clause in his contract, leaving him on the Serie A minimum wage of 2,000 euros (about HK$16,600) a month.

Paul Puba moved to Juventus on a free transfer from Manchester United last summer, signing a four-year contract with an annual salary of €10.5 million (about HK$87 million). However, he has only made 12 appearances for Juventus so far due to injury problems. He has been suspended since last month when he was found to have violated a banned substance and it remains an open question as to when he will be able to make a comeback.
