Lyon FC has finally announced the appointment of former Italian international Grosso as its new head coach after a lot of twists and turns, a decision aimed at succeeding Brancheau, who had previously left the club for some reason. Grosso, a 45-year-old Italian legend who played for Lyon as a player and has a deep affection and knowledge of the team, finally beat out another favorite, Gadossou, with his charisma and experience.

When it comes to Grosso's moments of glory, we have to mention the semi-final of the 2006 World Cup, where he helped Italy to advance to the final with a precise shot that pierced through Germany's goal in extra time. In the penalty shootout of the final, he even stepped up and scored the decisive last goal, becoming the key contributor to the championship. However, his coaching career did not seem to be as glamorous as his playing career. Despite having coached Verona, Brescia and Sion for a short period of time, and helping Fessinoni to win the Serie B title last season, thus qualifying for Serie A, he did not get his contract renewed in the end.
