Genoa are going strong in Serie A and have recently completed a heavyweight reinforcement with the signing of Italian starlet Ledigu. The talented 24-year-old goalscorer, who has signed a five-year deal for a transfer fee of 15 million euros (HK$130 million), is a newcomer to the team. Ledigu sees legendary Argentine striker Diego Militu as a role model, and may see Genoa as a springboard to lay the groundwork for a future move to Inter Milan.

Born and raised in Argentina, Ledigu was loaned by Boca Junior to another Argentine first division team, Tigre, last February and performed well, scoring 35 goals in 70 appearances. Due to his Italian heritage, he was called up by Italy national team manager Ventura in March this year. He scored on his debut for the national team in the UEFA Europa League outing against England, a feat that immediately attracted the attention of many giants. Although Inter Milan were interested in signing him, Ledigu made the unexpected choice of joining Genoa.
