According to Germany's picture newspaper, German soccer powerhouse Dortmund is salivating over Bayern Munich's central midfielder Schaubisa, and intends to recruit him in the hope that the Austrian international can fill in the vacancy after the departure of Zuidi Binningham. It is reported that Bayern Munich's transfer bid for Schaubisa is only 15 million euros (about 130 million Hong Kong dollars), which is very cost-effective.

Although Schaubisa was not fully utilized at Bayern Munich, he performed admirably on loan to Manchester United last season and was highly praised by coach Tannhäuser. However, United eventually opted to forego a buyout as they considered the €29 million (HK$250 million) transfer fee demanded by Bayern Munich too high. However, the latest Picture Post report claims that Dormont are actively considering signing Schabisa for €15 million, with Serie A giants Roma also joining the fray.
