With Premier League newcomers Newcastle United qualifying for the next UEFA Europa League, they are planning to make a large-scale recruitment this summer to strengthen their team. According to British and Italian media, Newcastle United have made a formal offer to AC Milan to acquire midfielder Sindo Donnelly for as much as 70 million euros (about 600 million Hong Kong dollars). If the deal is finalized, it will be tied with Alexandre Ishak, who was brought in last year, as the most expensive reinforcements in the Magpies' history.

Sources revealed that Newcastle United had made an offer of €50 million (about HK$430 million) on Tuesday (20), which was politely rejected by AC Milan. Subsequently, they raised their bid to 70 million euros, which finally impressed the Red and Black. Both sides are expected to reach an agreement in the near future. In addition, Newcastle United will offer Sindo Donnelly a deal with an annual salary of up to 7 million euros (about HK$60 million), which is double his current salary.

AC Milan is currently owned by RedBird Capital Partners, an American investment organization. Recently, the club dismissed former star and director Martini, aiming to implement a policy of saving money. The club side is willing to let other clubs go as long as they provide high offers. The AC Milan management should be satisfied with Newcastle United's purchase of Sindo Donnelly for €70 million.
