In the UEFA final, Inter Milan's sharpshooter Lukaku performed exceptionally well, not only failing to assist his teammates to break through the goal, but also missing a number of good chances, which seemed to be the main cause of the team's defeat. He is expected to be sent back to Chelsea at the end of his loan period this summer, however, the Blues do not seem to have any intention of calling him up. Sources have revealed that Saudi Arabian giants Hilal have seen fit to try and poach the 30-year-old Belgian shot-stopper by offering him a two-year deal worth a total of 50 million euros (HK$420 million).

Lukaku has scored just 14 goals in 37 appearances for Inter this season, a huge difference from the 64 goals he scored in 95 games when he first joined the Serie A giants. The club has lost the will to keep him. As for Chelsea, they also have reservations about Lukaku's return after Poutchiettinou took over as manager, making Lukaku's future uncertain.

With Hilar's original plan to bring in Lionel Messi thwarted and the Argentine soccer god having joined Major League Soccer's International Miami, the team was forced to look for a new superstar striker. So they took advantage of Lukaku's unemployment and made a tempting offer. If the deal goes through, the Saudi league will have three top scorers: Crowe, Benzema and Lukaku.
