The way we played against Italy was very pleasing, we were dominant in every way and I think we were in control of the whole game. It's true that there were two or three times when we were lucky not to concede, but overall we played a great game. We were very brave, we kept good distances, we had a compact formation, we played well on the counter-attack and we played the way we expected."
Asked if he had consoled many of his Inter teammates in the Italy squad after the game, Sommer replied, "No. I'm just very happy with the way we played. I'm just very happy with the way we played and it was a well-deserved victory. Of course, it's very disappointing for them, but very pleasing for us. Now I'm looking forward to the next game."
Finally, Sommer was asked if Switzerland would be potential favorites to win the tournament and he confessed, "I don't care about that, I mean it. Now we take it one step at a time, we have no other choice. Fortunately we have the next few days to catch our breath, we will watch the other matches and then I'm really looking forward to the quarterfinals on Saturday."
