The Warriors, the defending champions, let go of some rotation players off the bench in the offseason, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to lose depth on the roster, according to Clutch Points.
Just ask, who in a recent interview expressed high praise for the team's signing of DiVincenzo.
"DiVincenzo is a great fit for us, both in terms of ball movement and running in the open field. He's a great runner without the ball and he's also a good spot-up shooter. He's also a good passer, and he has a decent game on the ball-handling end of the floor. He's going to adapt and fit in with the team very quickly." Cole said.
The Warriors quickly agreed to terms with DiVincenzo after Payton Jr. agreed to a three-year, $26.1 million contract with the Blazers. DiVincenzo doesn't have the explosive physicality of Peyton Jr. but he's a better fit on both offense and defense. He can fill the void left by Peyton Jr.'s departure while still providing space on the floor.
JaMychal Green's place on the team isn't too clear at the moment, but after Porter Jr. joined the Raptors and Belichick returned to the overseas leagues. The Warriors' front line really needs to be replenished, especially if they play a smaller lineup.
"Green is a replacement for Porter and Belica, and he takes the place of both by himself. He can play multiple positions on the floor, he can defend the opposing team's five when he and Chase play at the same time, and he provides us with flexibility on the floor." Kerr said of Green.
The Warriors signed Green to a one-year veteran base salary contract after he was bought out by the Thunder.
Green shot a career-worst 26.6 percent from 3-point range last year with the Nuggets, and if he can shoot a little more accurately, his market on the free agent market could go up quite a bit. Kerr isn't too worried about Green's jump shot, however.
In a Warriors lineup where Green can get better 3-point shots, Curry and Thompson would draw away a lot of attention from the outside defense. Kerr thinks he just needs to prove that last season's struggles from the outside were just a fluke.
"I'm confident in his shooting, and I think the players that are joining us are going to shoot better than they did. Curry and Thompson will create space and Chase can keep the ball moving. Porter Jr. and Peyton Jr. from last year are great examples of that, and I think Green will enjoy the environment." Kerr said.
The Warriors aren't relying on offseason additions alone to make up for the loss of players in the team's rotation, and the growth of Moody, Kuminga, and Wiseman can't be ignored.
