Getafe and Osasuna will look to get back to winning ways this Sunday afternoon as they continue their respective La Liga campaigns. Currently 14th-placed Getafe will face the match following a 2-1 defeat at Real Madrid, while ninth-placed Osasuna were beaten 2-1 by Barcelona in their last match before International Day.
Much of the attention in Getafe's pre-match discussions has centered on Manchester United's loan striker Greenwood, who has stepped up his training during the international break and could be named in the squad against Osasuna. However, considering he hasn't played any competitive games since January 2022, it would be a surprise if the international were to start on Friday.
Getafe have gained four points from their first four games in La Liga in the 2023-24 season, with the first game ending in a goalless draw against Barcelona before a 3-0 loss in Girona. After beating Alaves 1-0 at the end of August, they narrowly lost again at Real Madrid before International Day, with the game's decisive goal coming in the fifth minute of extra time at the end of ninety minutes, scored by Bellingham.
Getafe have finished the last three seasons in La Liga in fifteenth place, so there is definitely room for improvement this season. Their September schedule will be tight and difficult, with Osasuna, Real Sociedad, Bilbao and Villarreal up next.
On the other hand, Osasuna almost had to share a draw with champions Barcelona before the International Match Day, with both teams entering the final encounter with a 1-1 scoreline. However, in the 86th minute of this duel, Lewandowski scored the winning goal as Osasuna suffered their second league loss of the season, both of which came at home.
Alassat's side beat Celta Vigo 2-0 in their opening game of the season before losing at home to Bilbao. However, they rediscovered their winning ways against Valencia on Aug. 27 before losing again against Barcelona. Osasuna also suffered an early season loss in Europe, where they were eliminated by Club Brugge in the Europa League play-offs by a 4-3 aggregate score.
Since their promotion from Liga B in 2019, Osasuna have been consistent in Liga MX, finishing the season in 10th, 11th, 10th, and 7th, and they are once again aiming for a European position this season, with six points from four games so far, which puts them in ninth place for the time being.
Osasuna will be without Moncayola and Brasanach for Sunday afternoon's match due to injury concerns. Alejandro Caterina will also be out, the defender was sent off against Barcelona prior to International Day, which will open the door for the return of David Garcia.
Keke Barkha is pushing for a place in the starting lineup and it would not be a surprise if the Spaniard plays in the side zone. However, there may only be two positions that will see changes - starting with the starting lineup against Barcelona, where Raul Garcia will continue to lead the way on the offensive end.
Score prediction: Getafe 1-1 Osasuna. Getafe won both of their league duels last season and haven't lost to Osasuna in La Liga action since the start of 2014. However, the visitors are a strong side and we think Sunday's game could be a draw, which wouldn't be the worst result for either side.
