It is reported that the suspect, Sergej W., 28, was born in Russia on April 7, 1989, and moved to Germany with his parents in 2003, holding both German and Russian citizenship.
For attempted murder, causing an explosion and bodily harm, the German police have arrested the suspect. After interrogation, the suspect's motive has also been identified.
In accordance with section 211 of the German Penal Code, Sergej W. faces the maximum penalty for premeditated murder: life imprisonment, according to Bild-Zeitung. In Germany, this means more than 15 years of deprivation of liberty.
On average, an offender will serve 20 years in prison, after which the remainder of the offender's sentence may be terminated.
