Bayern's winter training in Doha has reached its fifth day, and yesterday on the training ground Hummels lost his temper at himself for missing a scoring opportunity when a pass landed too far back. He was also asked about this in an interview with the official website after the training session.

"I talk to myself a lot on the field and curse myself twice when I make a mistake. I used to do that all the time, although sometimes it was because the youth team coach scolded me. But it helped me." Six months have passed since Hummels' return to Bayern, and he says he's very happy living at Bayern: "I'm really very happy and satisfied, and everything is very much as it should be. I think I'm getting into the swing of things very well both on a competitive level and on a human level and I hope everything continues."

Having just returned from Miami, Hummels had no time to adjust to the jet lag before jumping into the busy training schedule in Doha, which left him exhausted, but the "old" Bayern player was mentally refreshed: "The winter break was an advantage for us, I don't like to play as many games as the team. It's not a long break, but I can recover very well, I have seven full days off and I can relax and enjoy myself." At least these days Hummels can relax with a nap between training sessions. Hummels laughed: "I need this very much. I'm not young now. The evening ***s usually play a few rounds of cards and then the day just goes by."

Finally, Hummels also talked about the competitors in the second half of the season: "At the moment the gap between us and Leipzig and the rest of the teams is wider, and Leipzig is a strong competitor for us. Leipzig's biggest advantage is that they don't have to play on three fronts, and there's a good chance that Leipzig will end up with their current ranking. But based on the potential, and the team, and the club, I think Dortmund is the biggest competitor."
