During Monday's England press conference, defender Luke Shaw spoke highly of teammate Menu, praising him for his incredible growth, his ability to adapt and his success in the team's starting lineup.
Luke Shaw said, "Menu's growth has been truly amazing and he's improving at a rate that's beyond imagination. I remember when I first met him he was still only an occasional participant in first-team training, but back then you could clearly sense the potential in him to make a difference." He went on to add, "Despite suffering an injury during pre-season, which may have had some impact on his form, Menu never let it stop him. On the contrary, he recovered quickly and showed his strength with his excellent physical fitness and tenacity."
Luke Shaw was blunt about Menu's position in the team, saying, "Now, I don't see him as a young lad anymore. In my opinion, he is already one of the key players in our team. Maynu has unlimited potential and as long as he can keep his cool and keep working hard, I believe he can do everything."
Luke Shaw also singled out Maynu's ability to adapt: "His ability to adapt in the England team doesn't surprise me because he showed that trait when he was at Manchester United. He emphasized, "Everyone knows what Menu is capable of and what he is doing now is translating those abilities into actual performances on the pitch.
